Cookie Policy

Last updated: [DATE OF PUBLICATION] · Version: [1.0] · Last cookie scan: 1 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies MAGHREB NOW uses on maghrebnow.com, why we use them and how you can control them. It complies with Article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE), the GDPR and the Guide on the use of cookies of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

Key points at a glance

  • We do not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies.
  • We only use cookies and local storage that are necessary for the website to work, to keep you signed in, to remember choices you make and to protect the site against bots.
  • Because these cookies are strictly necessary or have been requested by you, the law does not require your consent for them. We still explain them here so you know exactly what happens in your browser.
  • The only external service that may set cookies is Google reCAPTCHA, which protects our login, registration and forms against spam and automated attacks.
  • If we ever add cookies that need your consent, we will show you a consent banner first and update this policy.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It allows the website to remember information between pages or visits, such as whether you are signed in.

Local storage and session storage are similar technologies that let a website store information in your browser. Session storage is deleted when you close the tab. Local storage stays until it is deleted.

A tracking pixel is a tiny invisible image inside a web page or an email that tells the sender that the content was opened.

In this policy we use the word “cookies” for all of these technologies.

2. Types of cookies

  • By owner: first-party cookies are set by maghrebnow.com. Third-party cookies are set by another domain, such as google.com.
  • By duration: session cookies disappear when you close the browser. Persistent cookies stay for a set period or until you delete them.
  • By purpose: technical or strictly necessary cookies are needed for the website to work or for a service you have requested. Preference cookies remember your choices. Analytics and advertising cookies measure audiences or show ads. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

3. Cookies we use

3.1 Cookies that keep the site working and keep you signed in

These are first-party cookies set by WordPress, the software that runs our website.

3.2 Cookies used by the community features

These first-party cookies are set by BuddyBoss, the platform that powers member accounts and profiles. Most of them only appear when you use a specific feature.

3.3 Cookies used by the newsletter

These first-party cookies are set by FluentCRM, the newsletter tool installed on our own server. They are only set when you click a link in one of our emails or use the newsletter preferences page.

3.4 Cookies from Google reCAPTCHA

Google reCAPTCHA v3 protects our login, registration, password reset and account activation pages, and our newsletter and contact forms. It is loaded from www.google.com only on those pages.

If you are signed in to a Google account, Google may also read its own cookies to assess the risk of the request. Google processes this information under its own Privacy Policy. We consider reCAPTCHA strictly necessary to provide a secure service. [REVIEW: IF A CONSENT TOOL IS ADDED IN THE FUTURE, CONFIRM HOW reCAPTCHA IS CLASSIFIED]

3.5 Local storage and session storage

Some additional keys are stored only in the browsers of our administrators, to remember settings of the administration panel. They are never used on visitors.

4. Tracking in our emails

Our newsletter emails contain a tracking pixel and links that tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this only to understand how our newsletter performs and to keep our list healthy. You agreed to receive the newsletter when you subscribed, and you can stop all tracking at any time by unsubscribing. Many email apps also let you block images, which prevents open tracking. See our Privacy Policy for more information.

5. Cookies we do not use

At the date of this policy we do not use:

  • analytics or audience measurement tools (such as Google Analytics);
  • advertising, retargeting or affiliate cookies;
  • social media pixels or tracking buttons;
  • fonts or scripts loaded from external services other than Google reCAPTCHA.

Embedded content in our articles (for example a YouTube video or a social media post) may set cookies from the provider when you view it. [REVIEW: IF EMBEDS ARE USED, LOAD THEM IN PRIVACY-ENHANCED MODE OR ONLY AFTER CONSENT]

6. How to manage or delete cookies

Because we only use cookies that are necessary or that you request, we do not show a consent banner. You can still control cookies at any time:

  • In your browser: all modern browsers let you see, block and delete cookies and site data. Look for “Cookies and site data” or “Privacy” in your browser settings. If you block all cookies from maghrebnow.com, you will not be able to sign in or use member features.
  • Google: you can manage Google cookies from your Google account settings.
  • Newsletter: unsubscribing stops email tracking. You can also delete the fc_hash_secure and fc_cid cookies from your browser.

7. Changes to this policy

We review our cookies whenever we add or change features, and at least once a year. If we add cookies that require your consent, such as analytics, we will first add a consent banner that lets you accept, reject or configure them as easily as accepting them, and we will update this policy. The date of the last scan is shown at the top of this page.
